Project Planning

PROJETC deploys the experience of the process and capabilities to shape and build the project plan, evaluate and enhance the value of the project with a sharp view on the risks and value before construction, execution or roll-out, ensuring the readiness and relevancy of the project.

Key considerations & practices during Front-End-Loading and planning phase of the project:

Governance & Organisation
-
Define and put in place the project governance (eg: Sponsors, Steering Committee, Project Committee), promoting external-eye evaluation and ensuring unbiased decision taking
-
Follow formal Stage Gate process and evaluation measuring project definition and planning maturity (eg: IPA benchmarks, PRDI readiness index..) before authorizing the next stage and verifying alignment with business strategy. Stage Gate improves predictability of projects performance in terms of both capital expenditure and delivery timelines
-
Design project execution strategy & organization and verify adequacy of resources
Project Value Improvement
-
Optimize capital spending and cash flows of the project by optimizing scope and core value proposition (eg : accelerate project timeline, construction and ramp-up for early profitability; balance CAPEX & OPEX; increase output and NPV.)
-
Conduct Value Challenge, Value Engineering optimizing standards, specs and design for value and Constructability study for lean accelerated construction
-
Ensure debiased and independent “External eye” with no stone left unturned to identify and evaluate creative alternatives
-
Promote value improvement mindset and rigor throughout of project’s lifecycle (not a one-off effort applied at the final investment authorization; avoid scope creep after authorization)
Collaboration and early involvement
-
Promote agile and adaptive mindset with collaborative effort, cross-functional & disciplines teams with a customer centric approach (“breaking silos”; ideation workshop across the value chain
-
Ensure early procurement involvement developing and implementing the best contractor strategy and procurement strategy
-
Integrate testing, commissioning and start-up plan in the planning and design to ensure optimized and accelerated ramp-up
-
Involve Operation & Maintenance in the planning studies
-
Integrate early HSE and Environment plan to guarantee safe and sustainable outcomes
Risk Management
-
Conduct rigorous Risk evaluation, prioritization and mitigation with action plan, stress testing the assumptions, optimizing of the Business Case and reinforcing the execution plan
-
Hold the Risk register with all key relevant dimensions (like legal, market, political, execution, design, technology, regulatory, safety, organization) and
-
Update continuously (Not a one-time exercise applied during planning and final investment decision, it is to be applied throughout of project’s lifecycle)
